Friendship Fabulous*

22 Aug

Every person that passes through our lives makes a contribution to our life stories. There are those who play small roles, but others that play long impressionable roles. This weekend I met up with a friend I hadn’t seen since I graduated college (I can’t believe it’s almost been a year and a half already!) and had an absolute ball. A & I met freshman year of college at a freshman picnic our school was hosting for us to all get to know each other. To hide from Virginia’s blistering sun, we both ended up sitting under the same tree and ended up chatting. To this day we still laugh at our awkwardness that occurred that day. Regardless of how we met (I must say though, if you know both A & I, that story is so fitting!) we became really great friends after the awkward day under the tree. We worked together, frequently lunched together, may or may not have mastered Soulja Boy’s “Superman” dance together, and even joined the same sorority together. It was so nice spend time with her and catch up on each other’s lives and to pick up our friendship right where it left off.

It’s so easy to get caught up in everyday life and forget to make an effort to reach out to those that you love. It’s easy to put it off until tomorrow and then before you know it months have passed by. Today, reach out to those old friends, those friends who wished you spent more time with, those friends that have made a lasting impression in your life.

Even in a crowd of people you can feel so lonely, if it was not for that one friend! its funny how people run around looking for popularity when all that makes you happy is a handful of people who really care and you have to care about.

I moved here leaving all my friends in Singapore and Dubai ! I miss them so much, your post made me call most of them right away.

Friendships are what keeps us going against all odds.
